Since I can't play for another 6 hours, I figure I'll theorize a bit. Feel free to give feedback on these specs: LinkThis is my favorite spec that I have come up with. From what I have read, the coefficient on Conflagrate isn't good enough to make it worth using the GCD on it. In a 1 minute straight up dps race, having Conflag in the spec might be worth it, but the increased mana consumption and the over complication of the DPS rotation to put Conflag in makes it skippable. The rotation here is: Corruption>Immolate>Incinerate(spam) and refresh as needed. Meanwhile, your imp stands next to you tossing fireballs and when he crits, you get the 20% crit chance bonus for your next spell. Oh, and I really can't decide where those 2 extra points that I put in Lifetap should ideally go for this spec. LinkFor reference, this is how I'd spec if I decided to pick up Conflag and Backdraft. Now for my affliction spec. LinkAs I understand it, the rotation for this spec is: Curse (utility) > Shadow Bolt > Haunt > (CoA if you are not on utility curses) Unstable Afflction > Corruption > Siphon Life > Shadow Bolt/refresh all dots as needed There is also talk about putting immolate in this rotation, but that would only be viable if you can keep haunt refreshed EVERY time it drops AND get a shadow bolt in there. 2 stacks of shadow embrace are extremely important for this spec's dps. From what I understand, this spec really makes a lot of sense when you hit level 80 and you have a few more points to drop into the destro tree. Even so, it sounds like it's going to be about even with the destruction spec I listed (better in some fights, slightly worse in others). Edit: I just realized that I skipped Demonic Power in those Destro builds. Pick those up for the sake of your Imp and drop shadow burn and the one point from nether protection.

Linki disagree slightly with your summary of the aff spec, nim. with some variation, im looking at this spec. obviously, at level 70 i'm somewhat limited, and it may be necessary to drop a point or two somewhere to get imp felhunter, since it looks like thats what aff locks will use as a pet, but the rotation i've tested out so far (disregarding utility curses) is SB>Haunt>CoA>siphon life>UA>Corruption>immolate (tentative, my tests show that its more efficient dmg for the mana cost than a SB) this rotation than splits off to refreshing dots as they go down, spamming haunt whenever its off CD to refresh corruption and spamming SB when dots are all up, these spells being frequent enough to maintain shadows embrace. with my imp out and only fel armor up, i was doing about 1200 DPS on the target dummies in org, keeping mana efficiency with dark pact, i never touched life tap for a min and a half of straight dps. obviously at level 80, with 10 more talent points available, this spec will change a bit, im thinking something around these lines, but i've always built my specs off what i think would be good and then tweaking where i found appropriate. for instance, the points in imp SB seem kinda wasted for me...this spec is built on DoT dmg Linklike i said, this spec is tentatve, the destro threat reduction may not be worth it compared to some other affliction talents, ill be trying many different things. I'm curious as to what kinds of specs you guys are looking at for soloing/leveling and pvp as well...personally i plan on developing an aff/demo spec for both uses, something like this Linki literally just threw that spec together, but i think something to that effect will be very effective in pvp. opinions?

With improved felhunter, your felhunters mana regen is almost as good, if not equal to that of a phase shifted imp. He also does ~100 dps without any raid buffs/debuffs. Otherwise, I've come to agree with you, especially on the rotation. CoA definitely outdoes CoD now, with improved CoA. I hit roughly 1400 dps on the target dummy today with just fel armor and my spellstone weapon buff, doing just what you said except that I also had my fel hunter on the dummy. This was on a first attempt too, and I even let Corruption drop once or twice and I think I ignored a fallen CoA for a little while. 1500 dps seems reasonable, unbuffed and with my gear in a straight dps fight.
It will be interesting to see how doable the rotation is on a fight with a lot of moving. It is pretty complex right now.

yeah, aff can definitely step it up now, but the main thing with the fel hunter is fel intelligence, i just think its gonna be a bitch to keep the thing alive, and if it dies you either cant dark pact and the raid loses fel intel, or you spend 10 seconds resummoning...>.>

i've been looking a little more closely at the specs, and i wonder if having one demo lock in a raid wouldnt be a good idea? demonic pact seems like it could really boost other classes...maybe having a demo lock as a support class would be a good idea...if so, i call not it , i've been affliction forever lol. something like this maybe... Linkin my mind, this is very similar to pre-patch BM specs, and i wouldnt be surprised if it actually turned out to be viable... at 80... Linkthose could probably stand some tweaking...but this idea has been floating around for me ever since i noticed demonic pact. i tested it out on beta because i dont have to pay for respecs there and its clearly not AS effective as deep aff or deep destro, both of which i've also tested, but it dos good damage, cumulating in a burst with demonform popped in which i was at 2000 shadow damage and unloading 3k noncrit SB....opinions?

That is really only needed if we raid with no shaman since it does not stack with flametongue totem or totem of wrath. I was looking at it before, but it's highly unlikely that we would raid without a resto or elemental shaman.
